At Buck’s Kennels, we go beyond basic boarding to make your dog’s stay as comfortable, safe and enjoyable as possible. Our facility is thoughtfully designed with your pet’s needs in mind, from spacious private suites and cozy Kuranda beds to attentive care from our experienced team. Whether your dog loves to play, relax or simply feel at home while you’re away, our top-notch amenities ensure every guest enjoys a tail-wagging experience from start to finish.

What is included in the stay?

  • All units have solid walls dividing each unit so neighboring dogs cannot see each other.
  • The bottom half of the doors are solid, and the top half of the doors are open.
  • Each room includes a Kuranda dog bed.
  • Dogs are taken outside 4 times a day in our fenced-in yards.
  • Dogs are let out separately (unless the owner has multiple pets and requests otherwise).
  • A complimentary bath for pups staying 7 nights or more

What should you bring?

  • Your pup’s food – maintaining their regular diets helps avoid digestions issues
    • We recommend bringing a little extra food since they will be playing more than normal and burning additional calories
    • The food must be in an enclosed container (Ziplock bag, tote, ice cream buckets, trash cans, etc.)
    • If you do not bring food, we can feed them, however, it will be a $2 fee per day.
  • Medications with written instructions (if needed)
    • We have a refrigerator/freezer onsite for medication and food that must be chilled.
    • Administering medication, daily chews, etc., will also result in a $2 fee per day.
    • If your pet needs medication administered through a shot, there will be a fee of $5 per day.
  • Collar with ID tags (for identification purposes)
  • Comfort items (if needed), such as a blanket, stuffed animal or chew toy
    • Items must be machine washable.
    • If your dog is known to destroy bedding or toys, please refrain from bringing these items to avoid ingestion of these materials.
  • Veterinary records
    • If we do not have your most up-to-date vaccination records, Iowa law requires you to provide us with your pet’s vaccination records for Bordetella, Parvo and Rabies, and Distemper. These records must have your pet’s information, as well as the veterinary information.

What should you expect after boarding?

  • While your dog had access to unlimited water in their suite, they may seem thirsty upon returning home. This is a common reaction to the excitement of being back home with their family.
    • Please withhold water for at least 30 minutes or when they have calmed down. Continue to monitor their water intake, as dogs that drink too much water too quickly may vomit or, in serious cases, could bloat.
  • We also recommend waiting at least 3 hours from the time you arrive home to feed your pet. Similar to too much water intake, eating too quickly can cause your pet to get sick.
