Basic hygiene is not only important for owners, but it’s also important for pets! Regular grooming is essential to your pet’s overall health and well-being. Routine grooming goes far beyond your pet looking and smelling good. Groomers can also catch other problems that may go unnoticed, such as skin problems or lumps.

At Buck’s Kennels, our trained experts provide a variety of grooming services for dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages and hair types. Our grooming services include:

  • Bathing and Drying: Bathing your dog regularly will keep them smelling fresh and will keep their skin healthy by removing dirt, excess body oils and allergens.
  • Haircuts and Styling: Certain breeds have coats that require regular haircuts and styling to prevent matting and to keep their skin healthy.
  • Nail Trimming: Regular nail trims are the best way to prevent painful overgrowth. Overgrowth can affect your dog’s joints and their mobility.
  • Ear Cleaning: Regular ear cleanings prevent infections in your pup’s ears, as well as preventing odors and looking healthy.
  • Teeth Brushing: Proper oral hygiene helps prevent dental diseases, reduces bad breath and is overall, essential to your dog’s overall health.

All pets must have the required vaccinations for grooming services.

Why does grooming matter?

  • Health benefits: Regular grooming prevents matting, skin issues and parasites. You can reduce the risk of infections and health problems by keeping your dog clean and well-groomed.
  • Bonding time: Grooming, such as brushing and combing, can be a great bonding experience between you and your pet. Our groomers know how to keep your dog relaxed and safe, building trust with each grooming session.
  • Comfort: Dogs who have long, thick fur will become uncomfortable if they are not groomed regularly. Keeping them groomed can help regulate their temperature and keep them cool in the warmer months.
  • Additional insights: Oftentimes, groomers can notice things that pet parents might miss, such as skin issues, lumps or irritations. Regular visits provide additional opportunities for early detection of health issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does it take all day for my dog to get groomed?

Grooming can be stressful for many dogs. Because grooming is an essential part of any dog’s life, we want to make it as stress-free as possible. For this reason, our groomers may take breaks between bathing, drying, cutting, etc. to avoid overwhelming your pup. Your pup will also get potty breaks as needed.

We also want to make sure your dog’s coat is completely dry before they leave, providing the best quality grooming possible. Our groomers also have to plan and execute a day’s worth of groomings, while meeting our high standard. Because of this, we cannot predict a specific time that each dog will take to be completed.

My dog is matted. What can I expect?

Our top priority is the health and comfort of your furry friend. We do not de-mat at this facility, so shaving the coat is the least painful and least stressful for your pet.

It is so important to brush your dog well at least every other day. When certain breeds who have fur (rather than hair) become matted, it can result in permanent damage to their hair cuticle, which can cause the hair to grow back differently. If you have questions about brushes, combs or techniques, our groomers are happy to make recommendations for you!
